What is Al Suhub Rest Area?
Al Suhub Rest Area, also called Al Suhub Rest House, is a modern rest stop built by the Sharjah government on the mountains that wrap around Khor Fakkan. The name “Al Suhub” means “the clouds” in Arabic, and on cooler days low clouds often drift past the terraces.
The complex was designed so visitors can stop, relax and enjoy the view safely. A paved road climbs about five and a half kilometres from Khor Fakkan to the top, with lookout points along the way. Visit Sharjah describes it as the highest point in Khor Fakkan, offering a panoramic view of the city.
Note that Al Suhub Rest Area is in Sharjah, not Ras Al Khaimah. If you are looking for the high mountain viewpoint in Ras Al Khaimah, see our guide to the Cebel Jais Seyir Terası.
What to see and do at Al Suhub Rest Area
- Panoramic viewing terraces: wide platforms on more than one level look over Khor Fakkan port, the beach, the Gulf of Oman and the rugged Hajar peaks.
- Cloud Lounge restaurant: a glass fronted restaurant on the edge of the mountain serving international and local dishes with a view.
- Café and snacks: grab tea, coffee or a light bite and sit outside on the terrace.
- Çocuk oyun alanı: a safe space for younger kids while adults enjoy the view.
- Prayer rooms and restrooms: clean facilities make it a comfortable stop on an east coast road trip.
- Gece manzaraları: after dark, the lights of Khor Fakkan and the port glow below, which many visitors say is the best moment of the visit.

- Dubai'den: take the E311 or E611 towards Sharjah, then follow the E102 east to Khor Fakkan. Allow about two hours.
- From Sharjah city: follow the E102 east to Khor Fakkan. Allow about ninety minutes.

- From Fujairah: drive north along the coast road to Khor Fakkan. Allow about forty minutes.
- Final climb: in Khor Fakkan, follow the signs for Al Suhub. The mountain road has sharp bends, so drive slowly and use the lookout points to stop for photos.
Fill up with fuel in Khor Fakkan before the final climb, and check your brakes and tyres if you plan a long road trip along the east coast.
Al Suhub Rest Area entry fee and parking
