In August 2026, Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, inspected the restoration of the fort as it is prepared to reopen as the Manama Museum, as Sharjah24 reported. The project keeps the fort’s watchtower, its old well and the palm groves watered by the traditional falaj system.
The new visitor route will start in a Story of Manama room and move through rooms on the area’s people, crops and farming, environment, stamps and currency, traditional games, old architecture and the Oman Coast Force, plus rooms dedicated to Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, before ending in the central Al Liwan courtyard. Visit Ajman describes the fort as a twentieth century landmark ringed by palms that has displayed weapons, Bedouin jewellery and handicrafts. No reopening date has been announced yet, so treat the museum as a bonus and the park as the main reason to stop.
