حديقة كلبا المعلقة is a mountainside terraced park on the Sharjah Kalba Road in Kalba, on the east coast of Sharjah, UAE. Also called the Hanging Gardens of Kalba, it opened in March 2024 and covers 1.6 million square feet, climbing to 281 metres above sea level with more than 100,000 trees, a lit artificial waterfall, walking trails, an excursion train, play areas and two restaurants. The park opens daily from 6 AM to midnight, and entry costs AED 5 للبالغين و AED 2 للأطفال.

What is Hanging Garden Kalba?

Hanging Garden Kalba is one of the newest nature attractions in Sharjah. It was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, in March 2024 and sits on the slopes of the Hajar Mountains above the Sharjah Kalba Road. Farm style terraces filled with flowers, trees and green lawns step up the mountainside, which is how the park got its “hanging” name.

The centrepiece is an artificial waterfall that cascades down several levels into a small lake and is lit up in colour after dark. According to زيارة الشارقة, the official tourism website of the emirate, the park also includes play areas for three age groups, a skate park, a 760 metre running track and mountain climbing routes with three levels of difficulty.

How to get there from Dubai and Sharjah

• From Dubai by car: the drive takes about 90 minutes. Head toward Al Dhaid, then follow the signs for Kalba onto the Sharjah Kalba Road (E102) through the Hajar Mountains.
• From Sharjah city by car: allow about 45 minutes on the same Sharjah Kalba Road.
• From Fujairah or Khor Fakkan: drive south to Kalba, then take the Sharjah Kalba Road west into the mountains.

Parking is paid and managed through the Mawqef app, with spaces for people of determination and electric vehicle charging points. The lots fill up quickly on Friday and Saturday afternoons, so arrive early at weekends.

• Waterfall and lake: watch the waterfall cascade into the lake, best after sunset when it is lit up.

Where to eat at the gardens

There are two restaurants and a cafeteria. The main restaurant in the centre of the park seats 215 guests in a semicircular building with views of the gardens and waterfall. On the upper level, a restaurant built in traditional wooden style sits 270 metres above sea level, seats 100 guests and looks over three sides of the gardens. A cafeteria serves light meals, coffee and snacks, and you are welcome to bring your own picnic.

Barbecues, pets and shisha are not allowed, in line with the rules in most Sharjah public parks. Kalba is a quiet, traditional town, so modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is a good choice.

Best time to visit Hanging Garden Kalba

The cooler months from October to March are the most comfortable for walking the terraces and climbing routes. In summer, visit early in the morning or after sunset, as the stairs and open slopes get very hot at midday. Late afternoon is the sweet spot on any day: you get soft light for photos, sunset from the upper terraces and the waterfall lights after dark. Weekdays are much quieter than Fridays and Saturdays. Plan two to three hours for a relaxed visit.

Since the drive from Dubai takes about 90 minutes, it is worth turning your visit into a full east coast day. On the way back toward Dubai, you can also visit وادي شيص, a green valley in the Hajar Mountains with a park and waterfall.
