Where Is Al Manama in Ajman?
Ajman is the smallest emirate in the UAE, but it has two inland enclaves away from the coast: Al Manama in the north east and மஸ்ஃபௌட் அஜ்மான் near Hatta in the south. Al Manama lies on the plains below the Hajar Mountains, between அல் தைத் ஷார்ஜா and Masafi. According to Ajman Tourism, it is a quiet farming area surrounded by acacia, ghaf, sidr and simr trees that attract wild honeybees, which is why local honey from the area is so well known.
The enclave covers about 26 square kilometres and had around 5,800 residents in the 2017 census. In the 1920s and 1930s, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi revived farming here by repairing the old falaj water channels and planting dates, citrus and papaya, and the area is still green with farms today. Around the main roundabout you will find cafeterias, a bakery, grocery shops and small services.

Places to Visit in Al Manama
Manama Museum (White Fort)
The Manama Museum is inside the White Fort, an early twentieth century fort that once served as a royal residence. It has a guard tower, an old well and date palms once watered by the falaj system, and its rooms have displayed old weapons, Bedouin jewellery and traditional handicrafts. In August 2026, the Ajman Government Media Office reported that the fort is being restored and turned into a 13 room museum around a central courtyard called Al Liwan, with rooms on Manama’s history, people, farming, environment, stamps and currency, traditional games, architecture and the Oman Coast Force. No reopening date has been announced yet, so message us on WhatsApp to check before you go. Ajman Tourism also lists it as one of the area’s highlights, and entry to Ajman’s museums is free until the end of 2026.
செங்கோட்டை
The Red Fort takes its name from the red plaster on its outer walls and is one of the most photographed forts in the UAE. It was once an official residence of Ajman’s ruling family. The fort originally had four rooms and two towers, and a third tower was added during a preservation project in the 1980s. Look for the sandalwood roof beams, the drinking water well beside the building and the animal enclosures in front, where oryx, gazelles and zebras are often seen. Opening is not always regular, and photography behind the fort is not allowed because it borders a military area.
Hassa Buweid Castle
Hassa Buweid Castle is a tower shaped fort built in 1976 by the late Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi on a rocky hill in Al Naseem village. Its name means “white stones”, after the hill it stands on. A stone stairway leads up to the tower, and the views over the Manama plains and the Hajar Mountains are lovely at sunset.
Manama Museum Park
Right next to the White Fort, Manama Museum Park has a small heritage village, a children’s play area and shaded gazebos for picnics. It usually opens in the late afternoon and hosts community events such as UAE National Day celebrations. Barbecues and pets are not allowed.
Al Naseem Nature Reserve and Al Bayyah Dam
Al Naseem Nature Reserve is a growing green area where thousands of native samar trees have been planted to protect local plants and wildlife. Nearby, Al Bayyah Dam is a favourite winter spot for birdwatchers, as migratory birds gather when there is water after the rains.
Farms, Ghaf Trees and Wild Honey
Drive slowly through the farm roads to see date palms, ghaf trees and seasonal crops. Honey from this area is prized across the UAE, so look out for local sellers along the main road.
