What is Deep Dive Dubai?

Deep Dive Dubai is an indoor diving facility inside an oyster shaped building, a nod to the UAE’s pearl diving heritage. It holds the Guinness World Records title for the deepest swimming pool for diving and opened to the public in 2021.

Under the water you’ll find an abandoned city to explore, with a different scene at each depth:

  • 3 metres: a motorbike, an ATM and an underwater chess set
  • 6 metres: a shallow wet bell
  • 18 metres: a basketball hoop, a foosball table and a treasure chest
  • 30 metres: an apartment with a kitchen and a bedroom
  • 40 metres: a deep garage with cars and arcade games
  • 60 metres: the bottom of the pool

First time divers stay in the shallower part of the city, up to 12 metres, while the deeper levels are for certified divers. The facility also has a hyperbaric chamber with a hyperbaric doctor on call, a restaurant and a dive shop. Visit Dubai’s guide to Deep Dive Dubai shares more of the story behind it.

  • Age: snorkelling from 6, Scuba for Kids at 8 to 9, beginner scuba from 10 and freediving from 13. Specialised dives start at 15 or 18.
  • Swimming: you need to swim for snorkelling, scuba and freediving. The Sunken City Walk needs no swimming skills.
  • Experience: none is needed for beginner experiences. Your instructor briefs you and stays with you the whole time.
  • Children: anyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian present with written consent.
  • Health: you must be free from medical conditions that rule out diving. If you have any health concerns, check with your doctor before you book.
  • Flying after diving: dive training agencies generally advise waiting at least 12 to 18 hours before flying, so plan your dive early in your trip.

What to bring
