Family Visit Visa or Family Residence Visa: Which One Do You Need?
These two are often confused, and they are not the same thing.
A family visit visa is a short stay tourist visa. Your family member arrives, stays for 30 or 60 days, and leaves or extends. There is no salary threshold on you, no Emirates ID sponsorship, no medical test and no stamping. This is what we arrange.
A family residence visa is a long stay visa where you formally sponsor a relative to live in the UAE. It requires a minimum salary, a tenancy contract, a medical test, Emirates ID and residence stamping. It is handled through a typing centre or a PRO service, not through a travel agency.
If your family is coming for a holiday, a wedding, a birth or a few months with you, the family visit visa is what you want.

Multiple entry means your family member can leave the UAE and come back as many times as they like within the visa period. Single entry allows one arrival.

The 90 Day Family Visit Visa: Current Position
People ask us for this often, so here is the honest answer. A 90 day visit visa is not available through travel agencies at the moment. We are not able to issue one, and neither is any other agency, so be careful with anyone advertising it today.
This has changed before and may change again. We keep this page current, so if the 90 day visa becomes available to us we will list it here with the price. Message us on WhatsApp any time and we will tell you what is available that week.
In the meantime the 60 day visa gets your family further anyway. Extend it twice by 30 days each and they stay up to 120 days without leaving the country, a month longer than the 90 days most people are asking for. We handle the extensions for you.
Who Can Come on a Family Visit Visa
There is no fixed relationship list on a visit visa. We regularly arrange visas for:
- Parents and parents in law
- Spouse
- Children of any age
- Brothers and sisters
- Grandparents
- Friends and extended family
You do not need to prove the relationship in the way a residence visa demands, and you do not need to meet an income requirement.
One point to note on the difference between family and friends: where a nationality requires a bank statement, you can attach your own UAE bank statement as the sponsoring family member. That applies to family members you are bringing over, not to friends. If your situation is unusual, message us and we will check it before you pay.
Documents Required for a UAE Family Visit Visa
For most nationalities we need three things:
- A clear colour scan of the passport, front page and back cover.
- A recent passport size photograph with a white background
- A return ticket, showing the flight in and the flight out
Do not have the ticket yet? That is not a problem. Tell us the travel dates and we will book the flights for you, and UAE residents can put those on the same monthly payment plan as the visa.
Requirements beyond that depend on the passport, not on the visa type.
- Bank statement. Some nationalities require a six month bank statement. Where that applies, and this is the part most people do not know, you can attach your own UAE bank statement as the sponsoring family member instead of your family member’s. They do not need to show their own funds at all. This applies when you are bringing family members, and it is one of the real advantages of applying as a family rather than as an individual traveller.
- Proof of funds on arrival. Separately, UAE immigration officers may ask an arriving traveller to show they can support their stay. This happens at the airport, not during the application.
- Nepali passport holders need a police clearance certificate.
- Indonesian passports showing a single name cannot be processed unless a supporting document shows a full or additional name.

How to Apply: Four Steps
- Send the passport scan, front page and back cover, plus the photo to us on WhatsApp at +971 4 220 2133.
- Choose the visa and confirm the flights. We confirm the price for that nationality and the entry type, single or multiple. If the return ticket is not booked yet, we book it for you.
- Pay. UAE residents booking for family or friends can pay monthly with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card up to 12 months. Everyone else receives a secure online payment link.
- Receive the visa. We send the approved visa to your WhatsApp as a PDF. Your family member prints it or shows it on a phone at check in.
Processing usually takes two to five working days. Approval is decided by UAE immigration, not by us, and we will tell you straight away if anything looks likely to cause a delay.
Paying for a Family Visit Visa in Monthly Installments
Bringing three or four relatives at once adds up. If you are a UAE resident booking for family or friends, you can split the cost:
- Tabby — up to 12 monthly payments
- Tamara — extendable payment terms
- UAE credit card — up to 12 months

Extending a Family Visit Visa Without Leaving the UAE
Your family does not have to fly out to stay longer.
- A 30 day visa can be extended three times, 30 days each, with no exit required
- A 60 day visa can be extended twice, 30 days each, with no exit required
Once the extensions are used up, your family member must exit and re enter. The two normal routes are an airport to airport visa change at AED 1,850 for a fresh 60 day single entry visa, or the Dubai to Oman bus route.
Start the extension before the visa expires. A UAE visit visa has no grace period once it runs out, and overstay fines begin immediately. We will remind you if you book the extension with us.
