What to See Inside the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi
The museum tells the story of people and art as one timeline, from the first villages to today, across 12 galleries. Objects from different countries made at the same time stand side by side, so you can compare an Egyptian statue with a Chinese bronze in the same room. The collection mixes the museum’s own works with loans from French museums such as the Louvre in Paris, and temporary exhibitions run through the year.
- The dome: 180 metres wide and made of nearly 8,000 metal stars in 8 layers. The light pattern on the floor is best around midday.
- The 12 galleries: about 2 hours at a relaxed pace.
- Children’s Museum: a hands on space for families with young children.
- The waterfront: walk out under the dome to the sea, popular for photos at sunset.
Allow 2 to 3 hours for a full visit, and longer if there is a temporary exhibition.

The museum is in the Saadiyat Cultural District, about 15 minutes from central Abu Dhabi. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is due to open next door on 11 December 2026, so from December you can combine both in one day. You can also add the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, a short drive away in the same Saadiyat Cultural District.
